Ja Morant caps eventful week for him, Grizzlies with buzzer-beater

Ja Morant was the hero Thursday night, capping an eventful week for him and the Memphis Grizzlies by beating the buzzer to down the Miami Heat, 110-108.

Morant’s fadeaway jumper in the paint gave the Grizzlies the win and marked his 29th and 30th points of the night.

It was the first win for the Grizzlies since the team’s surprise firing of head coach Taylor Jenkins and snapped a four-game losing streak overall.

The heroics also came in the wake of a mini-controversy surrounding Morant, who appeared to make gun gestures in the direction of Golden State’s bench during Tuesday’s game against the Warriors. Morant (and Golden State’s Buddy Hield) will not be disciplined for the gesture — which Morant did again after a 3-pointer Thursday night, though it did not appear to be pointed in any particular direction.
