Anthony Richardson says his shoulder is ready for training camp

The Anthony Richardson ride continues to be a wild one for the Indianapolis Colts.

The quarterback gave fans a scare during mandatory minicamp as he enters a key season, missing the workouts with a shoulder injury. One day after sports fans in the Hoosier state were dealt devastating injury news for Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton, they got some good news on their quarterback, Richardson.

On June 23, Richardson said his shoulder is ready for training camp.

Drafted with the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Richardson has only played in 15 games across two seasons, throwing 11 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

Here is the latest on Richardson:

Anthony Richardson injury update

After a shoulder injury that kept him sidelined during minicamp, Richardson seems to be set to throw during training camp.

‘I’m all good,’ Richardson told 247Sports’ Zach Goodall. ‘Not really even a bump in the road. I feel like I tripped, I fell. Just got back up and hit the ground running again.’

That is a good sign for the Colts, who are looking for the quarterback to take a big step forward in 2025. Richardson aggravated his throwing shoulder prior to minicamp, which the team said was related to a previous AC joint issue. The belief was that the quarterback wouldn’t need surgery, which Richardson appears to have successfully avoided.

It’s an issue that dates back to the quarterback’s rookie season. Richardson initially suffered the injury in a Week 5 contest against the Tennessee Titans. It ended up being a season-ending injury, costing the quarterback 12 games and required surgery.

The Colts signed Daniel Jones this offseason with the expectation that he would compete with Richardson for the starting job.

While Jones got a head start, it appears Richardson will be ready to go when veterans report to training camp on July 22.
